The inclination of social media has also brought cyber-bullying and trolling to the forefront, giving perpetrators a screen to hide behind. However, this issue primarily focuses on both home and school environments where this type of behaviour goes unchecked. Children often absorb and repeat this behaviour, unaware of the harsh meanings and unkindness behind it. Verbal abuse is often seen as something minor, not offending anyone, or is disguised as a joke to attempt to hide its true nature.

An educational toolkit empowering 5-6 year olds to recognize and resist verbal abuse through gamified learning. The solution combines engaging infographic zines, interactive activities, and animated content that exposes normalized harmful language in age-appropriate ways. By revealing the impact of seemingly innocent phrases and providing children with confidence-building strategies, the project creates young advocates capable of identifying and challenging verbal mistreatment in their daily environments.

The Good Word’s Expedition aims to teach young children across the UK all about kindness and how they can use it to make the world a better place. Through research, it has been discovered that Gen- Alpha (otherwise known as Generation Alpha) are known to have been more verbally aggressive than Generation Z. It opens up the question - what can be done to stop this unkindness?

Although this issue affects children of all ages, the main audience for the Good Words Expedition are 5-6 year olds, who are only just starting their academic journey at school.

In order to build a connection and drive the expedition, we have partnered with local schools around the UK to deliver presentations and provide children with helpful tools to drive their expedition and kindness journey. Some of these include helpful zines to empower today’s children to be kind human beings.
